Xiaomi is operating on a wave of inexpensive 5G phones

Xiaomi is one of the premier brands on the earth when it involves competitively priced smartphones, packing outstanding specs at an affordable price. The company has already showed its dedication to cheaper 5G phones with its £599 Mi Mix 3 5G and the ~$520 Mi 9 Pro 5G, but it's going even cheaper in early 2020.Company CEO Lei Jun said that every one of Xiaomi's phones published in the first half of 2020 for 2,000 yuan (~$285) or more will offer 5G connectivity, in keeping with MyDrivers (h/t: Gizmochina). What exactly does that mean, then?

The firm's early 2020 flagship contraptions, just like the Mi 9 successor (presumably called Xiaomi Mi 10) are hence prone to have 5G for starters, as they fit the cost window. We also know that the upcoming Redmi K30 will indeed pack next-generation cellular connectivity, however we're undecided about a launch date or price. We have no idea if Xiaomi will launch an alternate Mi Mix device in the 1st half of the year though, but there's a precedent in the Mi Mix 3 5G and Mi Mix 2S. And if Xiaomi indeed follows this trend in H1 2020, then it stands to reason that a better Mi Mix device may have 5G too.arcanetechs.com/i/blog/1600665838/aHR0cHM6Ly9jZG41Ny5hbmRyb2lkYXV0aG9yaXR5Lm5ldC93cC1jb250ZW50L3VwbG9hZHMvMjAxOS8xMS9YaWFvbWktTWktTm90ZS0xMC1jYW1lcmFzLWhlcm8tc2hvdC0xLmpwZw%3D%3D">Editor's Pick

Xiaomi Mi Note 10 review: A photographer's Swiss Army knife

Xiaomi is a corporation that aims to present extraordinarily high-value merchandise at wildly aggressive prices. From its phones to its suitcases, Xiaomi pushes the limitations of price-to-performance ratios by pledging to a greatest of 5% …

The Redmi Note series is a special story though, as the Redmi Note 7 Pro and Redmi Note 8 Pro didn't actually breach the ~$285 barrier at launch in China. So unless Xiaomi decides to augment pricing or offer specific 5G versions, I would not hold my breath for Redmi Note 5G variations in the first half of the year. The company's low-end Redmi phones like the Redmi 8A also retail for well under $150, so don't expect a 5G option during this category.Xiaomi's CEO reiterated the firm's plan to launch at least ten 5G phones in 2020 as well.Hopefully this suggests 5G phones for less than ~$285 in the second one half of the year. We've contacted Xiaomi for more explanation, including the probability of this approach making use of to Western markets. We'll update the article when/in the event that they get back to us.com/i/blog/1600665838/aHR0cHM6Ly9jZG41Ny5hbmRyb2lkYXV0aG9yaXR5Lm5ldC93cC1jb250ZW50L3VwbG9hZHMvMjAyMC8wNC9YaWFvbWktTWktMTAtUHJvLXdpdGgtZ3Jhc3MtMjAweDEzMC5qcGc%3D">
